Croatian cellcos T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT) and VIPnet have submitted bids for the remaining 2×5MHz blocks in the 800MHz band. T-HT has bid HRK105.1 million (USD19 million) for the first block and HRK105.7 million for the second block, while VIPnet has offered HRK110.1 million for the first block. The winners of the spectrum will be announced on November 26, and concessions valid until 2024 shall be awarded. ‘The government, besides receiving additional funds through the issuance of licenses, also expects to boost investment in broadband Internet infrastructure related to mobile communications networks,’ said the regulator Hakom. ‘It can significantly narrow the gap between urban and rural areas when it comes to density of broadband Internet.’
