Turkish mobile giant Turkcell expects to have six million machine-to-machine (M2M) connections on its network by 2017, up from 1.4 million at present, Ethem Eldem, corporate mobility services director at Turkcell has revealed. Eldem made the prediction at the Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam, with Total Telecom quoting him as saying: ‘We have enough numbers to make a fortune out of this’. The carrier hopes to raise monthly M2M ARPU from EUR2 (USD2.8) to EUR4 by that date by coordinating with its partner companies and ‘owning the whole supply chain’.
