Russian wireline operator Moscow City Telephone Company (MGTS) has built more than 50% of its previously announced USD2 billion Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) in the capital, local media sources have reported. According to the Prime business news agency, more than one million homes in Moscow are now passed by the network, up from 200,000 in February. The network, which was started in April 2012, has seen its projected completion date brought forward from 2017 to 2015, at which date the infrastructure will amount to 44,000km.
