Canadian telco Bell Aliant announced in a press release that it will invest CAD12 million (USD11.7 million) to expand its ‘FibreOP’ fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) triple-play network to an additional 21,000 homes and businesses in five Newfoundland communities, namely Clarenville, Bay Roberts, Carbonear, Torbay and Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s. The expansion means that FibreOP coverage in the province will reach more than 125,000 premises, representing an investment of CAD50 million since 2011. FibreOP is currently available to more than 725,000 homes and businesses in more than 60 communities across the Atlantic Canadian provinces and Ontario.
