North Korean officials have reportedly held ‘the first meeting of personnel in the field of posts and telecommunications in ten years’, the Global Post reports. According to the article, the secretive state held its last nation wide telecoms meeting in October 2003, in order to encourage people serving in the telecoms field to ‘elevate the level of service’ in the industry in order to meet international standards. North Korean premier Pak Pong-ju reportedly delivered a letter from the country’s leader Kim Jong-un, calling on all telecoms personnel ‘to bring about a fresh [impetus] in the service’.
