ZTE has announced that it was awarded more than a 60% share of contracts for the supply of 100G optical transport network (OTN) products to China Mobile in 2013. China Mobile, the nation’s largest wireless provider by subscribers, had launched a tender for equipment for the deployment of OTN infrastructure in all provinces to support its rollout of 4G networks. The cellco thoroughly assessed and tested each bidder’s offerings before shortlisting the two vendors with the highest scores. ZTE beat off competition from Huawei, Alcatel Lucent Shanghai Bell and Fiberhome to secure 60% of the tender. The value of ZTE’s deal with China Mobile was not disclosed.
