Hong Kong-owned carrier PCCW Global and US fibre capacity provider Lightower Fiber Networks have signed an agreement to establish international Ethernet interconnectivity (E-NNIs) between their networks. Via the deal, Lightower will extend its Switched and Dedicated regional Ethernet reach beyond the US and into 86 countries covered by PCCW Global’s Ethernet network with more than 100 Ethernet PoPs deployed on its international MPLS backbone. The new E-NNIs in New York and Chicago enhance PCCW Global’s Ethernet capabilities in the US. PCCW currently has carrier MPLS and Ethernet interconnects reaching more than 3,000 destinations in 130 countries, while pure fibre provider Lightower’s 20,000 route-mile network provides access to over 7,500 service locations in the US, offering carriers secure access to 130 data centres and over 115 ‘carrier hotels’ and telecom central offices.
