Bahrain’s Batelco and India’s Tata Communications have signed an agreement enabling Tata to extend its existing connectivity in the Middle East via Batelco’s global MPLS network, while Batelco customers will also benefit from the agreement via extended international network reach through Tata’s global network. As part of the deal, Tata will establish an MPLS point of presence (PoP) node at Batelco’s datacentre in Manama. Tata Communications’ regional head, MENA region, Radwan Moussalli, said: ‘The agreement with Batelco enables businesses to connect their offices in the region and around the world using Tata Communications’ extensive regional and global presence. One of the focuses of our emerging markets strategy is to not only provide the Middle East with a gateway to developed markets around the world, but also to foster enhanced trading relationships with geographies such as Africa and South East Asia. The new Bahrain PoP is the latest development in Tata Communications’ ongoing expansion of its global connectivity reach across the world. We have a long-standing partnership with Batelco and look forward to building further success together.’
