Brazilian postal services operator Correios is hoping to select a host network operator for its new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) business by the end of November, BNAmericas quotes its vice president of technology, Antonio Luiz Fuschino, as saying. Speaking on the side-lines of the South American forum of government IT leaders, the official said that Correios is yet to formally establish a unit to handle its MVNO activities – a prerequisite of Anatel’s stipulation to issue an MVNO licence – but that it has appointed the investment bank BBBI and legal advisors to support this process. Fuschino says that the postal operator hopes the new subsidiary will be in position to apply for a full MVNO concession by the first quarter of 2014.
