AT&T Mobility expects to launch its first Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) smartphone by the end of the year as a prelude to a wider deployment in 2014, Fierce Wireless reports. The online journal quotes Krish Prabhu, president of AT&T Labs, who was speaking at the PCIA wireless infrastructure conference. He said: ‘I do believe there might be a VoLTE-compliant device for the holidays this year’, adding that AT&T is currently conducting network upgrade testing for VoLTE and that the technology is likely to be made widely available from 2014.
