Bloomberg cites an unnamed source with direct knowledge of the company as saying that UK-based Vodafone Group is not interested in bidding for Brazilian mobile group TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil). Apparently scotching recent press rumours linking the UK carrier with a bid, the source, who asked to remain anonymous due to the confidential nature of the discussions, claimed that Vodafone has no plans to buy into TIM Brasil and is not currently holding talks with its majority owner, Telecom Italia (TI). Analysts at BTIG and Brandes Investment Partners recently cited Vodafone as one potential suitor for TIM Brasil, Brazil’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers.
