Slovenia’s dominant cable network operator Telemach has completed the purchase of smaller cableco Elektro Turnsek which it agreed in June, following permission from the Slovenian Competition Protection Agency (formerly the Competition Protection Office). Telemach paid owner Janko Turnsek around EUR25 million (USD33 million) for Elektro Turnsek, which has roughly 20,000 customers in the Celje area, with a network covering 35,000-40,000 households. According to the most recent report of Slovenian communications regulator APEK, at the end of June 2013 Elektro Turnsek accounted for 6.0% of the country’s cable TV subscriber market and a 1.9% fixed broadband internet market share.
