Missouri-based Suddenlink Communications has signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain Texas cable systems assets from Northland Communications. Suddenlink expects to conclude the transaction in the first quarter of 2014, subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of required regulatory approvals. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
The Northland cable systems involved in this transaction currently serve more than 12,000 residential and nearly 300 commercial customers, representing more than 18,700 primary service units (PSUs) on a combined basis. The systems operate in and around Gun Barrel City, Flint and New Caney, Texas. After the acquisition closes Suddenlink officials have noted that there is an opportunity to interconnect the Northland systems with nearby Suddenlink systems in Terrell, Tyler, and Kingwood, Texas.
