Suriname’s state-owned network operator Telesur has selected optical communications test and measurement solutions provider NTest to monitor the quality of service (QoS) of its fibre network infrastructure. According to a press release, NTest’s remote fibre test system FiberWatch enables continuous automated fibre testing, which improves quality of service for broadband services. Telesur’s manager of transmission Henk Bottse said: ‘The NTest platform enables us to proactively manage our network and provide the highest possible availability and reliability to our customers; it identifies where a problem is in the fibre network using Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) technology and the operations team is able to rapidly dispatch to the exact location. FiberWatch will have an immediate impact to the quality of service we provide and will also reduce our maintenance costs.’
