South-east Asia’s largest communications group by subscribers and revenue, Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), has teamed up with Korean equipment maker Samsung as it looks to focus its efforts on driving next generation mobile communication, infotainment and technology services across the Asian region. Under the partnership agreement, both sides hope to offer new applications and digital services to SingTel and its affiliates in the region, which include Advanced Info Service (Thailand), Bharti Airtel (India), Globe Telecom (Philippines), Optus (Australia), Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Ltd (Bangladesh) and Telkomsel (Indonesia). Further, the Singapore-based group will work with the manufacturer to ‘identify opportunities for joint launches and marketing campaigns of key Samsung device announcements’, the pair said. SingTel hopes the initiative will drive take-up of both its 3G and 4G customer base in each market in which it has a presence.
