Mobile network operator MTS Belarus says it is trialling high definition (HD) voice technology which, if successful, will be introduced in its 3G network, IT.TUT.BY reports the firm’s CEO Vladimir Karpovich as saying. ‘We are currently completing testing technology HD voice. Soon MTS will introduce a new codec [using almost twice wider frequency range than that used in the present AMR-codec],’ said Karpovich, offering much better sound quality and intelligibility of speech during a conversation in a noisy environment.
