French telco SFR, the telecoms unit of media group Vivendi, has announced plans to cover 84% of the population in Paris with its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network by the end of this month by installing 350 800MHz-enabled antennas, Les Echos reports. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in end-August 2013 the company announced that the 4G network will also be available in 300 municipalities in the Ill-de-France region by end-December 2013. SFR also pledged at the time to extend its 4G and Dual Carrier (DC)-HSPA+ networks to cover 70% of the country’s population by year-end.
