Abertis, a Spanish-based conglomerate with interests in the construction and telecoms sectors, is reportedly considering a move into the Brazilian mobile telecoms towers market, according to its VP of finance Jose Aljaro as quoted by Telecompaper. In an interview with reporters, Aljaro said that the Spanish group recently moved to acquire around 2,000 towers owned by Brazilian-owned Oi SA, but was unsuccessful in its attempt. ‘We’re ready to go … any company that wants to sell towers, we analyse,’ Aljaro told journalists, adding that the country’s mobile market in particular, is seen as an ideal business opportunity for Abertis.
