Taiwan’s government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute is to cooperate with local telecoms carriers and China-based telecoms equipment vendors to establish an experimental Timed Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) network in central Taiwan. According to the Digitimes, the development comes as part of cross-strait collaborations aimed at promoting the 4G technology. It is understood that the infrastructure will operate using 2620MHz-2669MHz frequencies, and it will comprise eight outdoor base stations and five indoor ones, with equipment to be supplied by China’s Datang Mobile Communications Equipment.
