Powercom (Leo), the Namibian cellco acquired by Telecom Namibia in November last year, has rebranded its services as ‘TN Mobile’. The country’s ICT minister, Joel Kaapanda, hailed the rebranding as a significant milestone which signals Telecom Namibia‘s readiness to take its business to the next level of development, reports local newspaper Informante. At a launch ceremony, the minister commended Telecom Namibia for having taken various initiatives in strengthening Namibia’s ICT industry, including its current project to boost fixed/mobile convergence. Telecom’s managing director Frans Ndoroma said that the Leo brand will ‘progressively be changed to TN Mobile over the next month,’ and added that his telco’s staff complement has risen to 1,500 after taking on 150 former Leo employees.
