Struggling Indonesian CDMA operator Bakrie Telecom, which is owned by the Bakrie family, reported net operating revenue of IDR1.112 trillion (USD106.6 million) for the six months ending 30 June 2013, marginally worse than the IDR1.118 trillion booked in the corresponding year-earlier period. However, the telco’s net loss narrowed sharply to IDR292.688 billion from IDR749.655 billion as a result of its efforts to reduce operating costs. The unit trimmed its expenses by 28% to IDR1.010 trillion as EBITDA improved by 20.1% to over IDR531 billion. Bakrie Telecom closed out June with a total of 11.52 million subscribers, roughly unchanged year-on-year, of which 647,166 were data subscribers.
