Vodafone New Zealand has announced that it has extended its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to a sixth location, namely Wellington, on the North Island. At launch Vodafone has indicated that it has achieved 30% LTE coverage of Wellington – including the central city and Lower Hutt – which is expected to rise to 50% by September. Further, CEO Russell Stanners noted that the cellco has notched up more than 150,000 customers using LTE-suitable devices to date. Vodafone already boasts coverage of Auckland, Christchurch, Lake Brunner, Queenstown, Wanaka and Taupo.
