T-Mobile to launch LTE in seven markets on 26 March

25 Mar 2013

According to a leaked document published by unofficial news blog www.tmonews.com, T-Mobile USA’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) network will launch on 26 March in Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Jose, and Washington DC.

In related news, according to a report by OpenSignal, T-Mobile’s download speeds are hitting around 25Mbps in a number of trial markets. OpenSignal said that its software has detected T-Mobile’s LTE network in Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas, New Orleans, New York City, San Diego, San Jose (and the Bay Area cities) and Seattle.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in January this year T-Mobile confirmed that its LTE networks in Las Vegas and Kansas City had been completed and were ready to be lit. The carrier plans to cover around 200 million people with its 4G network by end-2013.
