The provincial government of Bihar has ordered the removal of 784 base stations located within 100 metres of residential areas, hospitals and schools within the state capital, Patna. The Economic Times writes that the instruction was given based on the towers’ alleged adverse impact on health. Urban development minister Prem Kumar added that there were a large number of unregistered towers operating illegally in residential areas, warning that those operating such infrastructure would be dealt with severely.
