Wireless internet service provider (ISP) FreshTel, which first launched commercial services in April 2010, has extended its network to Syzran in the Samara Oblast, giving the company coverage of a total of 17 cities. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, after slow initial progress the company’s rollout really hit its stride in late-2012, following the sale of the company to Russia’s Vneshekonombank (VEB) in October that year. The company went on to launch in the following locations in quick succession: Bryansk (October 2012), Voronezh (December 2012), Rostov (January 2013) and Kostroma and Kineshma (both February 2013).
