In the wake of its suspension of the sale of Brazilian operator GVT, Vivendi has confirmed that it remains hopeful of divesting its majority stake in Maroc Telecom, but notes that the process is taking longer than expected. According to a report in Les Echos newspaper, the French media and telecoms group expects to receive bids in late April or later, with KT Corp, Qatar Telecom (Qtel) and Etisalat heavily linked. Vivendi is seeking around EUR5.5 billion (USD7.1 billion) for its 53% stake in the Moroccan telco.
