Syria, Iran and Iraq ink fibre-optic agreement

The Middle Eastern nations of Syria, Iran and Iraq have signed a joint agreement aimed at establishing fibre-optic connectivity between their countries, news agency Vestnikkavkaza reports. At the tripartite signing ceremony in the Iranian capital, Tehran, officials of Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI), Iraq’s Al-Sard Group and Syrian Telecommunications Establishment (STE) signed the deal which is designed to provide fibre-based voice and data transmission capability from Iran to Iraq, before linking to Syria, and then on to Europe.
