Ooredoo brand launched in Qatar as company gears up for 4G launch

Qatar Telecom (Qtel) officially rebranded its domestic operations under the ‘Ooredoo’ banner at a launch event on 11 March. At the event, the operator emphasised the preparations for its imminent 4G LTE mobile broadband commercial launch in Qatar while celebrating recent developments such as the national expansion of direct fibre broadband and the launches of corporate cloud computing services and mobile money applications. Each of the group’s majority-owned subsidiaries in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia will adopt the new brand during the course of 2013 and 2014, including Indosat in Indonesia, Wataniya in Kuwait, Nawras in Oman, Tunisiana in Tunisia, and Nedjma in Algeria.
