KC unveils next locations for FTTP deployment

12 Mar 2013

KC, the internet service provider (ISP) unit of Hull-based KCOM Group, has revealed the next locations for the deployment of its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) services. Marketed under the ‘Lighstream’ banner, the telco has confirmed that residents in the Victoria Dock area of Hull will be able to book appointments for service installations from May 2013, while would-be customers in Swanland and street around Hessle Road will gain access to the superfast broadband product from June. As a result of the expansion KC has said it expects the Lightstream service to be available to more than 2,000 homes and businesses in these areas during 201, while it also noted that, in total, the FTTP offering would be rolled out to 15,000 properties during 2013, with more locations to be announced in the spring. Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that the service is already available to more than 15,000 homes and businesses in areas including Kingswood, Greatfield estate and Beverley, with around 3,500 customers reportedly to have taken up an FTTP connection.
