Airspan Networks has announced that South Sudanese service provider RCS-Communication has selected its Air4G solution for the deployment of a 4G WiMAX network. ‘We made the investment to upgrade our current WiMAX network to the latest generation technology in readiness for further network improvements and specific service offerings we have planned,’ said Flippie Odendal, RCS-Communication managing director for South Sudan, adding: ‘Airspan was selected as our vendor because we believe their solution offers us the best scalability and widest choice of future options.’ Rollout of the WiMAX network has already started in South Sudan’s capital Juba under the first phase of implementation. In addition to the macro base stations and other related products and services, Airspan is supplying RCS with network management system Netspan, which will also manage any Long Term Evolution (LTE) network should RCS decide to deploy such technology. Together, the network components comprise a high capacity 4G network which provides customers with reliable high speed connectivity.
