Steady growth for Sunrise

8 Mar 2013

Swiss quad-play provider Sunrise has booked revenues of CHF2.066 billion (USD2.183 billion) for the year to end-December 2012, up from CHF1.984 billion a year earlier, on the back of wireless subscriber growth. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the year were CHF631.06 million, up 3.9% year-on-year, with an EBITDA margin of 30.5%.

Wireless revenue for the year was CHF1.309 billion, increasing 2.8% y-o-y as the company’s wireless user base increased to 2.142 million users from 2.116 million at end-2011. Mobile income was further boosted by the trend of increasing high value post-paid subscriptions, alongside declining pre-paid use. Average mobile ARPU for the year grew by CHF1.1 to CHF44.5, despite a drop in the final quarter of 2012 to CHF43.3 attributed to decreases in pricing. In the broadband market meanwhile, subscriptions dipped slightly to 369,600 from 370,700 in the year-ago period, despite the launch of Sunrise TV in Q1 2012. By end-2012, the telco had signed up 38,400 customers to its IPTV service.
