According to a report in the Ziarul Financiar newspaper, Deutsche Telekom (DT) plans to hold talks with the government of Romania over the planned timetable for the merger of OTE’s Romanian units Cosmote (Romania) and RomTelecom. The paper cites DT’s Claudia Nemat who is a member of the board at the German group, with responsibility for Europe and technology, who told delegates at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, that DT will continue to invest in Romania, which it considers has long-term growth potential – particularly in the residential internet and TV segments. Nemat confirmed that ongoing CAPEX levels will be maintained at similar levels to those seen in Romania in recent years.
