Serbian regulator the Republic Agency for Electronic Communications (Ratel) has proposed to begin rolling out fixed number portability (FNP) from October 2013, the watchdog announced, following a meeting with the Ministry of Foreign and Domestic Trade and Telecommunications (MTT). Previous efforts to implement FNP were derailed when delays at Telekom Srbija in December 2012 forced the watchdog to postpone the introduction of the service indefinitely. Ratel has sent notices to the nation’s fixed line providers, proposing to begin the first stage of deploying FNP in October 2013 with the final phase expected to be completed by March 2014. The regulator is expecting to receive responses within the next week.
