Sprint extends LTE to nine new markets, including San Juan, Puerto Rico

US mobile giant Sprint Nextel is extending its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to nine new markets, namely: Altoona (Pennsylvania), Asheville and Statesville (both North Carolina), Columbus and Elkhart/Goshen (both Indiana), Hammond (Louisiana), La Crosse (Wisconsin), Temple (Texas) and San Juan in the unincorporated territory of Puerto Rico. In addition, the cellco has expanded its existing LTE coverage in the Puerto Rican markets of San German, Yauco, Salinas and Santa Isabel. Bob Azzi, Sprint’s senior vice president (Network), commented: ‘The network team continues to build and test the new network across the country, including areas like San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Customers report they are already finding a 4G LTE signal in these places, and we look forward to providing even more reliable access to the data they need with our official launches’.
