5 Mar 2013

Indonesia’s second largest telecoms group PT Indosat says its preliminary net profits for full year 2012 fell to IDR417.4 billion (USD43 million) from IDR879.7 billion in the previous year, as financial charges surged to IDR2.69 trillion from IDR1.84 trillion in FY 2011.Dow Jones Newswires reports that while Indosat has not provided any further details on the charges, or its overall performance last year, it is expected to release its official full-year results on 30 April.

On a more positive note, the telco reported a rise in revenues last year from IDR20.58 trillion to IDR22.72 trillion as its mobile user base climbed 13.1% year-on-year to 58.5 million. Indosat CEO Alexander Rusli is quoted as saying: ‘We are happy with the achievements in 2012, where we saw improvement in our financial and operational performances.’
