MegaFon 2012 revenues up 12.4% to RUB272.6bn

Russian mobile giant MegaFon has reported consolidated revenues of RUB272.6 billion (USD8.91 billion) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2012, up 12.4% year-on-year. OIBDA for 2012 increased 16.4% on an annualised basis, to reach RUB117.4 billion. However, net income decreased 12.1% y-o-y, to RUB38.3 billion. Despite the company commencing its rollout of a nationwide Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in 2012, CAPEX for the year under review slumped 37.8%.

In operational terms, the number of active mobile subscribers reported by MegaFon and its regional subsidiaries stood at 64.62 million as at 31 December 2012, representing an increase of 2.9% y-o-y. Other MegaFon units include TT-Mobile in Tajikistan, Aquafon GSM in the Republic of Abkhazia and Ostelecom in the Republic of South Ossetia; the last two named regions being breakaway republics of neighbouring Georgia.
