Pro Pakistani writes that the anti-trust watchdog the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has drawn up draft regulations regarding deceptive marketing. The guidelines aim to eliminate a number of anti-competitive behaviour, classifying certain practices as ‘deceptive’ and therefore violations of the competition act, including: the distribution of false information in advertising, communication and points of sales as well as dealing with fine print, disclaimers and qualifications, substantiation of claims, comparative advertising, price disclosure and others. As it is not possible to predict future behaviour of telcos, the CCP has indicated that the guidelines be subject to change and should be further developed and refined once in place, to reflect changes to the market.
