Ericsson provides IMS platform to KDDI

27 Feb 2013

Ericsson has issued a press release saying it will provide Japanese operator KDDI with an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), the foundation for communication services over LTE, from the second half of 2013. Under the deal, the vendor will be responsible for the development and deployment and of the 3GPP standardised IMS platform that will deliver the carrier’s multimedia services. Having launched LTE mobile broadband services in September 2012, KDDI is now introducing IMS in order to take advantage of new technological developments being developed, such as voice-over-LTE (VoLTE).
