DoCoMo tests 10Gbps uploads from mobile devices

27 Feb 2013

Japan’s leading mobile operator by subscribers, NTT DoCoMo, has carried out a joint experiment with the Tokyo Institute of Technology, to successfully transmit the first packet transmission uplink rate of approximately 10Gbps in an outdoor environment. The test took place last December and will hopefully blaze a path for the future implementation of ultra-high, bit-rate mobile communications, it said. In the test, the carrier said that a 400MHz bandwidth in the 11GHz spectrum was transmitted from a moving platform using multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology.
