26 Feb 2013

Telkom South Africa has revealed that its trial of 20Mbps and 40Mbps broadband services, which commenced in October 2012 in Benmore Gardens, Fourways and Waterkloof (all Gauteng), Durban North (KwaZulu-Natal) and Durbanville (Western Cape) has proven successful. Bashier Sallie, Telkom’s Wholesale and Networks Managing Director, commented: ‘The pilot has seen participating customers experience broadband speed and throughput of an outstanding quality’. According to IT News Africa, 90% of participants trialling the 20Mbps speeds consistently synced at 20Mbps, while 74% of the 40Mbps users synced at 40Mbps. Based on the successful conclusion of the trial, Telkom Wholesale is now planning to launch commercial DSL speeds of 20Mbps and 40Mbps from 4 March 2013.
