SKT signs LTE-A MOU with Ericsson

26 Feb 2013

SK Telecom (SKT) and Ericsson have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the development and promotion of Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) technologies, Telecom Tiger reports. Under the agreement, the duo will develop and demonstrate LTE-A technologies including an upcoming joint showing of LTE-A Super Cell 1.0 which, they claim, eliminates inter-cell boundaries thereby removing the need for handover between coverage areas.

Choi Jin-sung, executive VP and head of SKT’s research and development division added that: ‘SKT will work closely with Ericsson … to launch a differentiated LTE-A network in the second half of 2013 to allow customers to experience innovative changes in their daily lives through evolved network technologies.’
