Vodafone considers move for Yoigo in Spain

25 Feb 2013

UK giant the Vodafone Group is considering a move for TeliaSonera-owned Spanish telecoms service provider Yoigo, The Sunday Times reported, quoting unnamed sources. The carrier is also being monitored by the likes of France Telecom-Orange and Telefonica of Spain, in a deal that could raise between EUR750 million and EUR1.2 billion (USD1.0 billion and USD1.6 billion). TeliaSonera has been forced to lower its aspirations for Yoigo, which has some 3.5 million customers, after last year’s auction failed to attract any bids near its EUR1.0 billion target.
