100,000 registered for Qtel mobile money

25 Feb 2013

Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has registered 100,000 users of its Mobile Money service, launched in 2011 in partnership with Qatar National Bank (QNB). The service allows users to deposit money into a mobile account (via 200 Qtel self-service machines, or in Qtel shops or via direct transfer from QNB accounts), make local transfers to other Mobile Money accounts, QNB EasyPay mobile numbers or QNB bank accounts, cash withdrawal at QNB ATMs or Qtel shops, and instant mobile pre-paid top-ups and post-paid bill payments. The service also allows users to send money to 196 countries in the world via mobile phone, utilising a tie-up with MoneyGram, and has proved popular with customers who do not have bank accounts or who have limited access to financial services.
