US Cellular aims to extend LTE coverage to 87% of footprint by year-end

US Cellular, in conjunction with its partner King Street Wireless, has announced that customers in more than 3,800 additional cities and towns will have access to Long Term Evolution (LTE) by the end of 2013. The cellco indicates that 61% of its user base currently have access to 4G speeds, but this percentage will rise to 87% by 31 December. New LTE services will be launched in select cities in California, Kansas and Nebraska, while US Cellular’s existing 4G network will be expanded to include additional cities in Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
