The government of Neuquen province in Argentina is planning on providing a range of telecoms services this year through Neutics, a newly created majority state-owned company, reports La Mana Neuquen. Neutics will roll out a 1,200km fibre-optic network in the province, and will provide mobile telephony, broadband internet and digital television in partnership with government-owned telecoms operator Arsat. The firm will also contribute towards the implementation of the ‘Argentina Conectada’ national project in the province, which aims to bring telecoms infrastructure and services to underserved rural parts of the country. The provincial government will be majority shareholder of Neutics, with Ente Provincial de Energia del Neuquen (Epen) and local cooperatives holding a minority interest.
