Tele2, Metronet developing converged fixed, mobile business packages

12 Feb 2013

Croatia’s third largest mobile network operator by users Tele2 has teamed up with alternative fixed line telco Metronet to offer fixed telephony and internet access in bundled packages with mobile services aimed at business customers. In late-December 2012 Tele2 and Metronet jointly launched a venture aimed at taking market share in the converged full-service sector, Poslovni.hr reported. TeleGeography observes that Tele2’s current collaborative services with Metronet include VPNs for businesses with unlimited intra-company calls under the ‘VPN usluga’ package, while Metronet is marketing ‘mobile office’ solutions. Tele2 is aiming to take share in the converged field away from incumbent PSTN operator T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT) and cellco VIPnet which offers converged fixed/mobile services as well as cable-based services via subsidiary B.net, while Metronet can now offer its business customers mobile services via the Tele2 tie-up. The cooperation between Tele2 and Metronet is solely on a partnership level and does not involve any ownership stake purchases or other ownership changes. Spokespersons for both companies confirmed that the Tele2-Metronet partnership will be developed further, on the basis of offering the best possible deals on converged fixed-mobile telecoms services to business customers.
