Ericsson in the frame for Europe-wide Tele2 mobile backhaul

12 Feb 2013

Tele2 has signed a frame agreement with Ericsson (commencing December 2012) for the expansion and upgrade of its mobile backhaul network throughout Europe, under which Ericsson is providing its Swedish compatriot with its MINI-LINK series of microwave radio solutions as well as support services and training. Ericsson, which has supplied MINI-LINK products to Tele2 for several years, says that the mobile backhaul implementation supports older technologies such as GSM and 3G, as well as large volumes of IP data traffic in next-generation LTE networks. The MINI-LINK family of products can be used both to create all-IP networks and in networks that are evolving from TDM to packet technology. The hybrid MINI-LINK TN and MINI-LINK CN can transport native Ethernet and native PDH (plesiochronous digital hierarchy) data over the same hop, which gives cost-effective migration from TDM to packet technology.
