Lebanese cellco Alfa has launched a live test of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology at the ABC Mall, Achrafieh. An invitation on the 2G/3G mobile operator’s Facebook page invites those ‘curious & excited enough’ to test applications such as High Definition (HD) videos and multiplayer gaming on a 4G connection at the mall until 20 February. State-owned Alfa, managed by Orascom Telecom Media & Technology (OTMT), has so far deployed around 20 LTE base stations around Beirut and intends to at least double this number before launching its first 4G services sometime this year.
