Tele2 Russia has revealed that 83% of the new subscribers that it added in 2012 are based in the Russian regions (excluding Moscow and St Petersburg). During the twelve months to 31 December Tele2 increased its subscriber base from 20.64 million to 22.72 million, while in 4Q12 alone Tele2 added 374,000 new users, or 38% of all additions in Russia. It was recently revealed that Tele2 extended its operational footprint in 2012 to encompass an additional 1.8 million people, as its number of base stations grew by around 14% year-on-year. The bulk of the growth occurred in the Far East Federal District, where Tele2 launched in October using frequencies secured in April 2011.
