Japanese giant NTT has posted revenue of JPY7.92 trillion (USD84.6 billion) for its nine months ending 31 December 2012, up 1.8% year-on-year. Operating income slipped 1.6% to JPY993.2 billion, but net income climbed 24.5% to JPY447.3 billion thanks largely due to a stronger bottom line from wireless unit NTT DoCoMo following impressive domestic smartphone sales. At 31 December, the company said it had 17.2 million fibre broadband subscribers, along with just under two million ADSL customers. DoCoMo for its part ended the calendar year with 60.99 million subscribers, of which 8.7 million were LTE subscribers. In its guidance for the full year to 31 March 2013, NTT said that net income is expected to come in at JPY530 billion, on the back of an operating profit of JPY1.2 trillion and sales of JPY10.8 trillion.
